Today I am thankful His grace is filling.
With Thanksgiving a week off, our minds (and tummies) are engulfed with thoughts of food. Who doesn’t love a good full belly? Thanksgiving is that one day when we can turn off our diets and fill our mouths with treats and fill our hearts with love. After a good turkey dinner we have that full feeling, as if we couldn’t stuff another bite down.
In the same way we allow food to fill our stomachs, if we allow grace to fill our hearts, it’s difficult for anything contrary to conspire. Imagine your heart as an empty plate. In the same way you would load up your thanksgiving plate with turkey, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, & pie leaving no room for broccoli— imagine what would happen if you were to load up your heart with grace and love. Filled to the brim with grace, there’s no room for judgment, discrimination, gossip, pride, and anger. With grace comes love, compassion, understanding, kindness, selflessness, and joy. How different would we act, especially going into the holiday season if we allowed the Holy Spirit to FILL us up on his fruit leaving no room for any sin? I’m choosing to adopt that as the holidays approach and I encourage you to do the same.
As for something else that’s filling, I make this mac & cheese recipe for my boys’ preschool every year. They all go wild for it.
It’s ‘filling’ because I use the special gold box Barilla Plus which has extra protein, fiber, and Omega 3s. When I make this, my kids FILL up on it and have no room for anything else. I don’t feel as guilty since it has the added good stuff. I had a few requests for the recipe so I thought I would share with yall. You can click the pic and it will show up in printable form.
