It seems as though in ‘Christian’ circles, physical intimacy and the marriage bed seem like untouchable areas to discuss. Sometimes I casually drop a joke to test the waters with some of my girlfriends to see if they are comfortable discussing the subject. Usually, if it’s not ‘ignored’, I usually get a little chuckle and a quick subject change.
There seem to be 2 common issues here:
1. Christians, mainly women, are often perceived as being prude and meek when it comes to sex. Sadly, we ‘Christians’ do it to ourselves by judging each other on our different opinions on the subject.
2. Christians– of both genders— often have a terribly misconstrued preconceived idea about sex before they ever enter marriage. Those ideas form terrible habits in both parties and perpetuate a terrible cycle.
Why are we not talking about it? Why are we brushing it under the rug with our girlfriends? Why are we not bringing it up as a prayer need in our ladies small group? It’s a problem! People who seek God first and put God in the forefront of their relationship deserve to be having the best of what marriage has to offer.
So let’s talk about sex, baby!
If you’re a 90s kid you know you just starting singing this song. Don’t hate.
Ladies (and gentleman), I present to you…
On the Sabbath, we will discuss sex. Yes, that is correct. Sex is from God and it is good, so why not? We will start with a hot sub-topic next week!
For this week– I encourage you to spark a conversation about biblical marital sex with your spouse and also a close friend or two. See what that looks like and see if you notice any of the things I mentioned earlier.
Leave me some comment love if you are looking forward to this like I am!!!
